Golden-Retriever

As one of the most popular dog breeds in the U.S., the Golden Retriever is a loyal and sociable breed. They are highly intelligent, friendly, and famously tolerant. Being natural athletes, this breed does well in dog sports and competitive obedience. Due to their excellent abilities at the retrieving game, they are great for hunters and trackers as well as providing therapy assistance to special needs individuals.

At Temecula Puppies our Golden Retrievers come from local breeders in Temecula California. We are committed to only using proven and trusted breeders and delight in knowing that our puppies come from loving homes. Temecula Puppies provide Golden Retrievers completely healthy, happy, and ready for a new home.

According to legend, Golden Retrieves were descended from sheepdogs bought from a circus in Russia. However, it is more likely that the breed was developed in Scotland, at the highland estate of Sir Dudley Majoribanks.

By the year 1911, the Golden Retriever was recognized as a distinct breed by The Kennel Club in England. By 1920 the breed was officially named the Golden Retriever. The American Kennel Club recognized the breed in 1932.

One delightful aspect of this breed is that they keep their playful puppy personalities until three to four years of age. Some may even retain their puppy charm into adulthood. Even though the Golden is slow to mature, it will stay playful for many years. This trait would match perfectly with owners that have children.

Since the Golden Retriever was originally bred for the physically demanding job of the hunter’s assistant, it requires regular exercise. This breed loves playtime in the yard, a stroll on the beach, or even a simple walk in the park.

Also, give your Golden Retriever a job.  Like other intelligent breeds, they like to have a helpful purpose and collaborate in activities with their family. For example, retrieving the paper, waking up family members, or competing in dog sports. In all things, they love to be with their “pack”.

The grooming practice with the Golden Retriever can be a wonderful bonding experience. This breed’s thick coat needs to be brushed twice a day. They have a water-repellent double-coat that sheds seasonally. Their nails grow fast so remember to keep them trimmed to avoid overgrowth, splitting, and cracking. Regular ear and teeth cleaning are also essential.

Remember that the Golden Retriever likes to stay busy and active so a good diet and plenty of food and water is important. Today, the average lifespan of this breed is 10 to 12 years.

At Temecula Puppies we initiate basic potty training and socialization. Please remember that only time, love, and patience is what truly trains a puppy to be obedient. Good news is that this breed has a pleasant disposition and is very eager to please it’s owner.

At Temecula Puppies, our Golden Retrievers come with their first set of puppy vaccines, deworming, and health checks. Our breeders are required to have regular vet records on the breeding parents and puppies. Every puppy has a vet exam within the first week after adoption.

Because Temecula Puppies knows it is very important to carefully choose where to adopt your new family companion, we offer healthy and happy Golden Retrievers from local and trusted breeders only. We make certain that they come from a truly loving home. Please remember that we never ship our puppies in from out of state breeders.
